Noncompete Agreement: California
A noncompete agreement is common when working for major companies. This is a necessary form of protection for companies. However, in the state of California, noncompete agreements are illegal and against public policy. This creates is easier for California employees to hire the people that they want from out of state and there are no boundaries for them. There are a few notable exceptions. The first is when the owner is selling the goodwill in their business. The second is when there is a disassociation of a partnership. The third is when there is a dissolution of a limited liability company. For more information about the California noncompete agreement, please consult the California Business & Professions Code.
