Your new home office: check with your local municipality
Although it is very rare for garden buildings and home offices to fail building inspections — especially if they have been designed and constructed by professionals — it pays, in the design phase, to check with your local municipal code enforcement officers to see if a building permit will be required. Also you should check to see if the structure that you are planning to put up on your property is within the proper height and width parameters. Most likely you’re building will need to be located a minimum distance away from your main building, your neighbor’s houses, and any adjacent roads and streets.
