My ten year old daughter had her first crush on a boy in her class. She was crushed when he gave another little girl a Valentine’s Day card and not her. She came home bawling and asked me how to get over a break up with someone you really like that hurt you. I had to help her understand that she and the boy was not really a couple and that he didn’t hurt her intentionally because he didn’t know she liked him. When my husband got home, he and I had a talk with her about it and she felt better afterwards.
